So you’re on a search for a nice bucket hat made in the USA? Perhaps you already tried looking in some physical stores or maybe on Amazon, but we can guess that wasn’t a resounding success. The fact is that very few hats are still made in the USA these days, especially cheaper types like bucket hats. But don’t despair, there are still a few brands that offer American made bucket hats, and we’ve found them for you!
What is means for hats to be made in the USA.
If you’re already looking for an American made hat, chances are you’re well aware of the benefits of supporting the American manufacturing industry, its workers and the communities that depend on it.
However, what we value most at Made By Liberty is giving you the ability to make an informed decision. So in the interest of full transparency, here are two things to keep in mind:
Firstly, while the USA has one of the strictest standards of any country when it comes to labeling something as American made, that doesn’t necessarily mean that a product is 100% made domestically. And while we often try our best to find products that are made in the USA to the largest degree, the variety of American made bucket hats is so small that excluding those made with foreign materials just isn’t feasible. So be aware that some or all of the hats listed below might be made with imported materials. Though we still think that’s a whole lot better than nothing!
Secondly, a lot of brands will try to tell you that American made products are of better quality. While that sometimes certainly is the case, it also many times really depends on the specific brand. So even though we would encourage you to buy American made, if you’re only buying a bucket hat made in USA because you think it will be of better quality, you can probably find cheaper imported options that are just as good.
With those caveats out of the way, let’s get to the list!

American Trench
When looking for American made bucket hats, American Trench is definitely a good place to start. They offer the largest selection we could find with hats made from standard cotton twill for everyday wear, but also camo patterns and even some denim or linen options for a more stylized look.
All their American Trench bucket hats are made in New York. They can be a little on the expensive side, with prices ranging from $50 – $85, however you can get them for as little as $20 when they’re on sale!
Boathouse
While stylish hats are great, sometimes you just need something to keep your head dry and out of the sun. In that case Boathouse is probably your best option. As their name might suggest, they’re a nautically themed based in Philadelphia, where they also make almost all of their products.
As such, all their bucket hats are made in the USA from nylon and polyester fabrics, making them lightweight and moderately water resistant. They’re are also quite affordable, with prices generally ranging between $20 – $35.
Winner Caps/Emstate Hats
Lastly, we have winner caps, which again falls more into the stylish category. They also offer a somewhat limited selection, but it perfectly fills the gaps left by American Trench and Boathouse. They offer wool bucket hats, as well as black leather ones and a uniquely feminine design with a linen floral print.
All the hats are made in the USA, more specifically New York, where Winner Caps was founded in 1994 and continues to make all their hats as a small, family-owned business. Price-wise, you can expect to pay between $30 and $50 for a bucket hat.
New York Hat Co.
Last but not least, we have New York Hat Co, a family business founded in 1982 in New York City. When you’re looking which just a little more style than the brands above and don’t mind paying a little bit more, they’re probably a good choice. They offer a pretty wide selection and as far as we know, all their hats are made in the USA. They’re a little on the pricier side, though still reasonable with about $65 – $95 for a bucket hat.
The only downside we found is that their online store looks a little outdated and perhaps isn’t the most user-friendly. Their bucket hats also don’t have a separate category, though most can be found under Vintage Hat Styles and Leather and Suede.
Honorable mentions
There are a few other companies that sell American made bucket hats, but either they only sell very small selections or there are some other reasons we wouldn’t recommend looking at them first. However, because there so few options available in the first place, we wanted to at least mention them briefly.
- Hard Tail Forever sells a cotton fleece, vintage women’s bucket hat for about $15.
- You can find some polyester mesh bucket hats on madeinusa.com for about $20.
